Resilience Nurse service
Practices in South Warwickshire benefit from access to a resilience nursing service which provides an experienced nurse to cover when colleagues are away.
The innovative service, funded by NHS England, means practices are more able to encourage nurses to take up training opportunities and can manage workload during absences with support from SWGP’s Resilience Nurse.
Our Resilience Nurse service provides access to a qualified practice nurse, well versed in asthma and COPD reviews and a wide range of treatment room jobs including dressings, vaccinations and new patient checks. They are adept at slotting into different teams and making patients feel comfortable and confident in their care.
Using the Resilience Nurse service is easy and reliable – SWGP manages the employment and indemnity responsibilities and we have a legal agreement which covers both parties.

“The Resilience Nurse was efficient and responsive to our needs and has fitted in with minimal supervision… We have also used the nurse to mentor some of our less experienced nurses which has been really helpful in relieving pressure on our Advanced Nurse Practitioner.”
Resilience Secretary service
We offer secretarial cover for practices to help out when an extra pair of hands is needed, whether that’s due to a heavy workload, sickness absence or covering holiday periods.
Our remote Resilience Secretary service encompasses most aspects of a secretarial role, including accessing the surgery’s clinical system and Lexacom digital dictation.
This remote access enables our Resilience Secretary service to provide a much more flexible level of cover depending on the surgery’s requirement and service availability.
In partnership with Coventry & Rugby GP Alliance, South Warwickshire GP Federation provides additional GP capacity so practices in Coventry and Warwickshire can continue to deliver services during GP workforce shortages. The service has been in high demand, particularly during the pandemic and the ongoing isolation requirements for clinicians with Covid symptoms.
