How it works
GP Surge provides up to six remote GP sessions a day, with up to 20 patient consultations being delivered by phone during each session.
Patient data is retained within the GP practice’s own system, with access to the phone list enabled remotely for the GP Surge team when required. Practices can audit the activity, with all relevant patient information retained and updated locally.
How it helps
The service is designed for emergency use and requires initial set up to work seamlessly with appropriate information governance in place. All practices in the region are encouraged to complete the set up ahead of any known requirements so that resilience can be provided when needed, minimising the impact of staff shortages on patient care.
The service has been really well received, with nearly 14,000 telephone appointments delivered to date on behalf of practices across Coventry and Warwickshire.
