South Warwickshire GP Federation provided Christmas resilience cover on the 22nd and 29th December to support the wellbeing of the staff in our shareholder practices.
Our team provided a mix of remote reception, admin, and clinical support so that patients could receive the care and information they needed ahead of the bank holidays.
Over the two days, our team handled 175 calls, supporting 28 practices across South Warwickshire. Working in partnership with the on call duty doctor at each practice, we were able to triage patients and direct them to their local surgery for a face to face GP consultation, or local extended hours hub where appropriate.
SWGP Service Delivery Manager, Louise Masterson, said: “Resilience cover is one of our most heavily used services. We provide clinical and non-clinical support to help cover peaks in workload and staff absences so that practices can continue to deliver consistent, high quality care to patients, even when resources are stretched. We were particularly pleased to be able to offer extra support in the run up to the festive period and plan to offer the same level of support in December 2024.”
SWGP Resilience includes phlebotomy, HCA, Admin and secretarial cover and is a service available to all 29 member practices in SWGP Federation.
