On Saturday 2nd May, a group of SWGP colleagues came together to take part in the Pretty Muddy 5K in support of Cancer Research UK – raising an incredible £2,230 for a truly important cause.

The event was organised by Tordi Edge, following her own cancer diagnosis in 2024. After undergoing 18 months of treatment, Tordi is now in remission and completed her immunotherapy treatment in January. Her determination to give back and support ongoing research made this event especially meaningful.

Joining Tordi on the day were Louise Masterson, Dr Oliver Rintoul-Hoad, Dr Ben Atkins, Dr Cat Roberts, and Louis Edge (Tordi’s son) – all taking on the muddy challenge together and showing fantastic team spirit throughout.

“Taking part in Pretty Muddy really resonated with me. During my 18 months of treatment, there were times it felt like I was pulling myself through mud just to keep going. Doing the 5K brought that feeling full circle, but this time surrounded by such incredible support.

I’m so grateful to everyone who took part with me – Kat, Ben, Oliver, Louise and Louis – and for all the support in raising donations. I’m also completely in awe of the donations we’ve received. Every time I look at the total, it honestly makes me quite emotional.”

The funds raised will help support vital research, including advancements in treatments like immunotherapy, which continue to make a real difference to patients.

A huge thank you and congratulations to everyone involved – an inspiring effort and a brilliant achievement for Team SWGP 👏
