Winner certificate awarded to Abbey Medical Centre
Abbey Medical Centre in Kenilworth scooped the top prize in the first annual Gill Schweigert Innovation Awards last week (24th October). The awards celebrate innovation in nursing across Coventry and Warwickshire and recognise the essential role nurses play in improving patient care across the region.
Abbey Medical’s nomination centred around their programme to train and develop future practice nurses which has created a pipeline of skilled nurses and enhanced team collaboration and knowledge-sharing. Another South Warwickshire practice, Trinity Court, was also recognised, coming 3rd in the awards for its pulmonary rehab clinic pilot.

Congratulations also go to Chantelle Walker from Meon Medical Centre who was shortlisted as an individual in recognition of her work to move patients onto more environmentally friendly inhalers for asthma care.

The inaugural Gill Schweigert Innovation Award evening took place on Wednesday 23rd October. It will be an annual event to celebrate and recognise nurses and/or nursing teams across Coventry and Warwickshire that have demonstrated exceptional innovation in patient care, quality-driven improvements or projects that have demonstrated evidence of improved patient outcomes.
