We’re pleased to share our latest Annual Report, highlighting the work and achievements of South Warwickshire GP Federation (SWGP) throughout 2025/26.

It’s been a year of significant change across the NHS, but we’ve continued to support our member practices and Primary Care Networks (PCNs), develop patient services and work with partners to strengthen primary care.

This year’s highlights include:

  • Expanding patient services: We expanded our Primary Care Dermatology Service and successfully secured a new contract to provide Ophthalmology Coordination Services across Coventry, Warwickshire, Hereford and Worcestershire on behalf of IPC. We also launched the smoking cessation service across Warwickshire.
  • Supporting practices and PCNs: Our resilience service provided 2,833 hours of support to practices, while we continued to provide essential HR, recruitment and financial support to PCNs.
  • Improving patient care: The Ophthalmology Coordination Service handled 25,932 referrals, a 40% increase on the previous year, with 96% of patients rating the service as excellent or very good.
  • Helping PCNs navigate change: We continued to provide essential HR, recruitment and financial support to PCNs, including supporting the merger of Leamington South and North into Leamington PCN and recruiting more than 30 Additional Roles staff.
  • Working together to improve local health and wellbeing: Our Young Persons Mental Health Care Coordination Service had supported 241 patients and delivered 641 hours of support, while our GP in ED and frailty nursing services continued to support patient care.
  • Investing in our people: We strengthened staff engagement and wellbeing, introduced improvements to staff induction and delivered our first staff away day, which is set to become an annual event.

As we look ahead to 2026/27, we remain committed to growing, supporting and enabling primary care, working with our partners to create new opportunities and help deliver high-quality care for patients across South Warwickshire and the wider health system.

Dr Cristina Ramos, SWGP Chair, said:

“It’s clear from our annual report just how much activity – and change – takes place within our own organisation and the wider NHS in just a few months. I’m extremely proud of the work our team has done to grasp new opportunities and respond to challenges as they have arisen. Working with our member practices and wider system partners, we have been able to bring new services to patients and provide more specialist support closer to home. We look forward to further strengthening the role of primary care in supporting better outcomes for patients in the months ahead.”
