Patients to benefit from Enhanced Access Service

Oct 7, 2022

Patients across South Warwickshire can now take advantage of a new ‘Enhanced Access’ service offering GP, nurse, healthcare assistant and pharmacy appointments during evenings and weekends. Enhanced Access is designed to make it easier for patients to access care at a time and location that is convenient for them.

In line with government-led changes, Enhanced Access replaces the previous Extended Access (also known as GP+). Patients can book face-to-face and telephone appointments between the hours of 6.30pm to 9pm Mondays to Fridays and between 9am and 5pm on Saturdays at one of nine Enhanced Access Hubs.

SWGP is providing this service in partnership with most Primary Care Networks (made up of individual GP practices) in South Warwickshire. The nine hubs will offer a mix of GP, practice nurse, clinical pharmacist and healthcare assistant appointments, and can support a wide variety of patient needs. Clinicians will have access to patient records so that any treatment is recorded appropriately and individual practices are kept informed about their patients’ care.

Enhanced Access is not a walk in service. To book an appointment, patients should contact their normal practice and ask for an Enhanced Access appointment.

The nine Enhanced Access Hubs are:
