Nursing teams from across Coventry & Warwickshire came together last week for the 2025 Gill Schweigert Innovation Awards, an event designed to spotlight creative approaches to patient care and professional development in primary care nursing.

Organised by the Coventry & Warwickshire Training Hub, the programme recognises projects that are making a meaningful difference to communities and supporting the growth of the nursing workforce. This year’s recipients included:

Winner

  • Sue Thomas (Action Menopause) – An ANP-Led Community Support Model

Runners Up

  • Jordine Crooks – North Arden PCN – Living Well for Longer – A Four-Armed Proactive Care Approach to Providing Personalised Care to our Patients
  • Laura Kerby – Alliance Teaching Practice – Future-Proofing Primary Care – A Development Programme for Nurses New to General Practice

Highly Commended

  • Leah Kirkwood and Florence Jack-Petter – Improving Hypertension Management in People Experiencing Homelessness
  • Bidford Health Centre – Nursing Team Development

South Warwickshire GP Federation is pleased to recognise the dedication and forward-thinking work showcased through the awards, which reflect the commitment of nursing teams striving to enhance care quality across the region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chris Beyer, Chief Operating Officer at SWGP, said:
“Every project nominated for the Gill Schweigert Awards is an example of primary care nursing teams working hard to deliver great services to patients.
