Coventry & Warwickshire Integrated Care Board commissions several services at scale which are delivered in partnership with Integrated Primary Care.
These services are often delivered by a lead Federation on behalf of all IPC partners, or directly by IPC itself, with support from federation colleagues. SWGP is actively involved in delivering the following system-wide services, either on behalf of or in association with IPC.
Ophthalmology Coordination Service
In spring 2024, the ICB appointed Coventry & Warwickshire IPC to run the admin hub for its new Ophthalmology Coordination Service (OCS). Our team leads the delivery of the OCS hub.
The service gives patients more choice about where they receive specialist eye care and reduces the administrative burden that used to be placed on GP practices in processing referrals from optometrists.
Opticians now upload secondary care referrals directly onto an digital referral system which is administratively triaged by the admin hub.
Our team ensures the patient is registered within the C&W system and identifies suitable treatment providers. We contact eligible patients to run through screening questions, before offering them a choice of places to receive their treatment based on suitability, waiting times, and location.
GP practices receive a copy of their patients’ referrals for their records and are alerted to any potential follow-up requirements.
The OCS hub are processing over 2,400 referrals per month
Primary Care Gynaecology Service
The Primary Care Gynaecology Service (PCGS) is a service we deliver in partnership with Integrated Primary Care across Coventry & Warwickshire.
The PCGS provides a single point of access for routine gynaecology conditions and treatments where these cannot be met within individual practices.
Primary Care Dermatology
Primary Care Dermatology is commissioned by Coventry & Warwickshire Integrated Care Board. The service is provided by Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Primary Care (IPC) in partnership with Consultant Connect. South Warwickshire GP Federation provides the operational delivery on behalf of the partnership.
PCD provides quicker, more accessible specialist care for patients with dermatological conditions, at local clinics in Coventry & Warwickshire.
Digital Champions
Digital Champions is an IPC-run service which provides digital transformation support to practices across Coventry & Warwickshire.
SWGP supports the delivery of the contract by managing the recruitment and employment of the Digital Champions team.
