Our principal PCN support services are:

  • HR support, including recruitment, onboarding and employment of Additional Roles (ARRS) staff
  • Business management support including finance and accounting
  • Clinical support such as enhanced access services or vaccination programmes, where required

PCN Management and finance support

As PCNs are not incorporated, SWGP acts as a PCN Account Holder and employer of ARRS staff roles. This means we take on most of the HR, recruitment and financial activities for PCNs, delivering consistency and economies of scale.

Our support includes:

  • Managing all financial transactions on behalf of the PCNs
  • Managing Xero accounts for each PCN, and producing annual accounts
  • Monthly reporting of current and forecasted financial year end position
  • System reporting on workforce to ICS quarterly
  • Processing claims and payroll/pensions for all ARRS staff
  • Providing HR support and advice, particularly in relation to ARRS roles
  • Tracking and updating the NWRS system (National Workforce Reporting System)

Attracting & supporting ARRS staff

‘Additional roles’ or ARRS are NHS England funded roles designed to enhance the range of services and support PCNs can offer their patient populations. SWGP is responsible for employing most additional roles for PCNs.

This centralised working brings multiple benefits, including a consistent approach to recruitment, onboarding, management, training and development across South Warwickshire. It also removes most of the administrative workload associated with recruiting and managing ARRS for PCNs

Although employed by SWGP, ARRS roles are embedded within practices. PCNs direct what they work on based on practice and PCN priorities.
