SWGP sees strong support for key decisions at AGM

Dec 13, 2022

Representatives from the shareholder practices that make up SWGP Federation met on 1 December to discuss important changes that will enable the Federation to provide more services to support practices and patients, more flexibly.

Shareholders who voted unanimously agreed to changes in the way practice shares are managed so that services can be provided in a flexible and equitable way, recognising the patient lists sizes and local support requirements can change over time.

Changes were also agreed that will allow additional practices to join the Federation, enabling services to be provided in future to every practice in South Warwickshire.

Achievements and priorities

Chair, Cristina Ramos, took shareholders through the services and achievements secured during 2021-22, including successful delivery of GP in ED, Covid vaccination and extended (enhanced) access services, as well as extensive back office support and centralised purchasing savings.

Cristina also highlighted current priorities, including the new enhanced access service being delivered in partnership with PCNs, and the Primary Care Gynaecology Service being delivered on behalf of all four federations in Coventry and Warwickshire.

Alongside these successes, Cristina acknowledged some of the pressures facing primary care and the need to continue to find ways to support practices and staff. SWGP is committed to improving communications with shareholder practices to help enable practices and PCNs to thrive and ensure primary care has a strong voice at place and system level.

Finance Director, Kim Dodd, and Financial Controller, Nick Towers, took shareholders through the 2021-22 annual accounts, including detailed analysis of how funds are allocated, which were approved for filing at the meeting.

SWGP Chair, Cristina Ramos, said “Our AGM is an important opportunity to share our progress, challenges and ideas with shareholder practices. Partnership working is at the heart of everything we do, and it was good to be able to get together in person and seek input from shareholders on important decisions that will strengthen our ability to provide flexible and equitable services in line with local demand.”
