Encouraging nurses to take up training opportunities

SWGP provides practices in South Warwickshire with a Resilience Nurse service which provides an experienced nurse to cover when colleagues are away.

The service, which is funded by NHS England, means practices are more able to encourage nurses to take up training opportunities and manage workload during absences with support from our Resilience Nurse.

SWGP manages the employment and indemnity responsibilities for our resilience nurse and we have a legal agreement which covers both parties.

Our qualified practice nurse has proven to be adept at slotting into different teams and making patients feel comfortable and confident. They are well versed in asthma and COPD reviews and a wide range of treatment room jobs including dressings, vaccinations and new patient checks.

Practice feedback

“TThe Resilience Nurse was efficient and responsive to our needs and has fitted in with minimal supervision… We have also used the nurse to mentor some of our less experienced nurses which has been really helpful in relieving pressure on our Advanced Nurse Practitioner.”

Sherbourne Medical Centre

“TThe quality and experience of the Resilience Nurse was first class.”
